l presente artículo ofrece una visión integral sobre los derechos de los niños en el ámbito internacional. Hace un recuento de los instrumentos jurídicos que se han realizado en la materia así como de los organismos creados para hacerlos valer.

Inicia presentando algunos datos históricos de la manera en la que los derechos de los niños han sido considerados a lo largo del tiempo. Posteriormente analiza la evolución que el Derecho ha tenido y la posición que en la actualidad tiene ante el tema. Para ello toma en cuenta los conceptos más importan¬tes plasmados en los instrumentos jurídicos (en especial, en la Convención sobre los Derechos del Niño). Analiza particularmen¬te disposiciones en relación con el trabajo infantil y el reclutamiento militar infantil. Aporta ejemplos de la manera en la que se está tratando el tema desde el sistema inte¬ramericano de derechos humanos, haciendo énfasis en el trabajo de la Corte Interamericana.

his article offers an integrative view of the children rights of in the international domain. The article describes the international legislation that has been realized in the matter, as well as the institutions created to make them valid.

It starts by presenting some historical data about the way in which the rights of children have been considered throughout time. It subsequently analyses the evolution of the Law and the position that it currently has on the issue. With this purpose, it takes into consideration the most important concepts presented in the international legislation (in particular, the Conventions on the Rights of the Child). It analyzes in particular clauses related to child labor and the military re¬cruitment of children. It also provides ex¬amples of the way in which this issue is being handled within the framework of the inter-American system of Human Rights, emphasizing the work of the Inter-Ameri¬can Court.
